If you are not logged in to a particular site, or have not set up your 'Location' in 'My account', the site will show to you distances measured from the centre of the selected town.

But if you log in and have set your 'Location' in 'My account', it will show to you distances measured from YOUR OWN PERSONAL location, as shown in the page header!

Your public user profile only shows your city and country. No one else sees your full address - when members log in they will see only their own full address. If you don't want to put your full address in 'My Account', you can always put in just your country, city & postal code.
